About Me

I must say I had no idea my life would end up being so interesting. It started out rather ordinary before taking an unexpected turn in my late thirties.

I grew up in a quiet 1950s suburban neighborhood outside of East Providence, Rhode Island, went to college, got married, had a son and moved to my dream farm in New Hampshire when I was 24 years old. Being born in the baby boomer generation, I had fulfilled all the usual expectations and figured my life was all set.

The “Universe” had other plans!

When my son was in high school I felt the need for a change of direction and went back to college and graduated with a BS in nursing. After a year working at a drug and alcohol rehab hospital, I attended Boston College to gain a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing. It was then my husband of 19 years decided he also wanted a new life and asked for a divorce!

Well, that was a shock and a time of darkness!

When I finally pulled myself together I found a great job with Family Strength, a private agency which did home-based family therapy with court referred families. I started as a family counselor and moved up to supervisor for our regional office.

I still had my farm and animals and was enjoying single life when….. “out of the blue”……I met my soulmate and things REALLY changed!

At age 41 my “Herm” and I decided to “drop out” and travel. Thus began 30 years of adventure and personal growth which I share with you in my book, “Daisy & Herm, An Unconventional Life”.

Round the world travel, crisscrossing the US and Canada in a 17 foot travel trailer for 14 years, living off grid on a remote property in Colorado, to finally separating, still as best friends, to start yet another phase of learning and growth.

Life is a fascinating journey!
