Have any of you ever gone on some kind of a retreat or attended a program at a retreat center? I have gone to many in the past and have even been a work study volunteer. Work study was a lot of fun, washing dishes, changing beds, doing cleaning and best of all getting a peek at some of the behind the scenes goings on. Well, it seems that I have moved to the next level! Last summer I had the opportunity to take the position of work study and travel coordinator for Gary Null’s health retreat in Mineola Texas. Even though I had never done a job like that before, I jumped in with both feet and just went for it. Another Re-Wilding my life moment for sure! On top of that, Gary asked me to speak to the group one night about my experiences of traveling and living off-grid……..another “gulp” moment but one I went for just the same. The 4 weeks spent at Villa Azurra were life changing, I took the leap into the unknown and it was a great ride. I got to work with a great team of people and I was able to employ all of my many skills of organization, hard work, attention to detail, my healing work, my people skills and much more. I also REALLY got to exercise my brain with all I had to keep in it at once!! LOL! This was an experience I wouldn’t have gotten to have if I had “played it safe” and said, “no, they wouldn’t want me, I have no qualifications for that job!”
Since that time, I have been invited back twice to continue in my position. I worked at Gary’s retreat center in Naples Florida in January and I am now back in Texas. It is nice to be back here as I now know what is expected and I can be even more effective in my job. It feels really good to be part of a team, some of whom I have worked with previously and some brand new. To top it off, I get to be of service to help provide a life changing and healing experience for people from all areas of the country and all walks of life.
I am very grateful that I took that jump into the unknown and trusted that I could do this job.
